AAPI Mental Health Information for Faculty and Staff

AAPI Students encounter mental health distress in many ways. However, for many reasons, mental health distress is seldom discussed openly with others. This Faculty and Staff Brochure on AAPI Mental Health provides information identifying common symptoms and stressors that AAPI Students might experience throughout their college experience. It also includes information about connecting students with counseling resources.

How to Use This Brochure

There are a few organizations specializing in AAPI Mental Health. The Asian American Psychological Association provides Fact Sheets on Mental Health that you can access here: https://aapaonline.org/publications/fact-sheets/ The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) also provides more info specific to AAPIs here: https://bit.ly/2A6mnPL.

The brochure discusses race-related and immigration related stress, however many other experiences are also distressing for AAPI mental health (e.g. queer-related stress, body image issues, financial stress, and chronic physical illness). HCAP aims to increase awareness of all AAPI stressors through their outreach on campus.
