The HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program provides peer mentorship and support to new transfer students at Hunter College. This program is supported by the Hunter College AANAPISI Project (HCAP). HCAP programming is open to students of ALL identities.
Mentee Cycle – Fall 2026
• Transfer Mentees participate in this program for ONE semester, not one academic year.
• We will accept mentee applications for Fall 2026 only (program timeframe: August – December).
• Applicants MUST be in your FIRST year at Hunter as a transfer student (entering this Fall ’26 or last Spring ’26).
Eligibility
- Must be a transfer student in your FIRST year at Hunter (this Fall 2026 or last Spring 2026 is/was your first semester).
- Must be available to meet all program requirements.
- Preference will be given to new transfer students who are also first-generation college-goers (your parent(s) did not attend college in the U.S.). However, you are welcome to apply even if you do not identify as a first-generation college student.
Program Benefits
- Assigned a peer mentor (a current Hunter College undergraduate student), matched based on your academic and personal interests.
- In-person kick-off event to build community with other transfer students and get introduced to trained Peer Mentors and HCAP staff.
- Monthly check-in meetings with a Peer Mentor (group drop-in mentoring or 1:1).
- Community events to introduce you to resources at Hunter.
- Connection to a supportive peer community and 1:1 support from HCAP staff.
Mentee Commitments
- Attend mandatory kick-off event on campus on Tuesday, August 25th, 3:00-5:00pm.
- Attend at least 1 mentor meeting per month (September, October, November, December).
- Complete post-meeting survey after each meeting.
- Attend at least 1 community or affinity space event.
- Be in regular contact with your mentor and HCAP staff.
*** MENTEES WHO MEET AT LEAST 4 TIMES WITH THEIR MENTOR & COMPLETE 4 POST-MEETING SURVEYS WILL RECEIVE A COMPLETION PRIZE AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM! ***
We will accept around 24 mentees for this cohort. If accepted, applicants will be notified via an email message around 8/11 to the email address provided in their application.
