The HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program provides peer mentorship and support to new transfer students at Hunter College. This program is supported by the Hunter College AANAPISI Project (HCAP). HCAP programming is open to students of ALL identities.
Mentee Cycle Closed
• Transfer Mentees participate in this program for ONE semester, not one academic year.
• We will accept mentee applications for Spring 2026 only (program timeframe: February – May).
• Applicants MUST be in your FIRST year at Hunter as a transfer student (entered Fall ’25 or Spring ’26).
Eligibility
- MUST be a transfer student in your FIRST year at Hunter (started in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 semester).
- Must be available to meet all program requirements.
- Preference will be given to new transfer students who are also first-generation college-goers (your parent(s) did not attend college in the U.S.). However, you are welcome to apply even if you do not identify as a first-generation college student.
Program Benefits
- Assigned a peer mentor (a current Hunter College undergraduate student), matched based on your academic and personal interests.
- Welcome event to build community with other transfer students and get introduced to trained Peer Mentors and HCAP staff.
- Monthly check-in meetings with a Peer Mentor.
- Community events to introduce you to resources at Hunter and meet others students.
- Connection to a supportive peer community and 1:1 support from HCAP staff.
Mentee Commitments
- Attend a virtual welcome event on Wednesday, February 11th at 5-6pm via Zoom.
- Attend at least 1 mentor meeting per month (February, March, April, May).
- Attend at least 3 community events.
- Be in regular contact with your mentor and HCAP staff.
We will accept up to 24 mentees for this cohort. If accepted, applicants will be notified via an email message to their preferred email address in February.
Application Deadline
Applications are currently closed. They will open in mid-January.
