Transfer Peer Mentor 2024-2025 Cohort

Desiree Caraballo

Desiree is a senior at Hunter College studying Human Biology. She is working towards becoming a speech-language pathologist for children. Her interests include fashion, self care, spending time with her little brothers, and medical shows like Body Parts and Dr Pimple Popper. She also loves spending copious amounts of time and money spoiling her pitbull, hamster, and budgie.

Hillary Sujono

Hillary is a junior at Hunter College, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. She loves meeting new people and helping others. During her free time, she tries different restaurants and cafes with her friends or family. Iced matcha lattes and croissants are number one on Hillary’s must-order list. Her interests are photography, trying new things, and learning languages. She enjoys traveling, baking, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ishmat Sultana

Ishmat is a Media major with double minors in Asian American Studies and Literature, exploring passions in anime, K-Pop, and NYC’s culinary diversity, especially in Flushing and Manhattan Chinatown. With a strong interest in fashion and thrifting, Ishmat enjoys creating art and graphics, inspired by their studies in graphic design and fascination with innovative ad campaigns.

Jankiell (Jay) Ferreira

Jankiell Ferreira is a Junior pursuing a Sociology major and a Business Studies certificate. As an ongoing volunteer for NYPIRG, he is engaging with students regarding its events and information on environmental justice. One of their remarkable goals was attending lobbying trips to Albany to advocate new policies/bills that protect the environment and people’s interests. In their free time, they enjoy volunteering in neighboring parks and rollerblading.

Jervin De Luna

Jervin is a senior at Hunter College, majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Psychology. He plans to attend an accelerated nursing school after earning his bachelor’s degree—because who needs sleep, right? In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, watching thriller dramas, and practicing photography, proving that he can multitask between saving lives and capturing the perfect shot.

Joey Huang

Joey Huang is a junior at Hunter. He is majoring in psychology with a concentration in behavioral neuroscience and is on the pre-med track. Outside of academics, he works as a medical assistant/scribe where he loves hearing and learning about each patient. In his free time, he likes to try new foods, collect sneakers, and do some working out (going to the gym, playing tennis or volleyball).

Masiel Pacheco

Masiel Pacheco is a Senior in Hunter College who is majoring in Psychology. She has always had a passion for offering other people support and guidance through tough times. This passion is what drove her towards pursuing a career as a Mental Health Counselor. In her free time Masiel enjoys reading self help books, journaling daily and traveling to different places. She loves going to new restaurants, museums and watching shows!

Tsz Ching Ethan Ho

Tsz Ching Ethan Ho is a senior at Hunter College, aspiring to be a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Passionate about nutrition and science, Ethan is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the community’s health and well-being. In her free time, Ethan enjoys listening to music and covering songs from favorite artists. She also loves coffee and exploring new cafes in New York City.

Vale Soriano

Vale is a Junior at Hunter College. They are currently an English Literature major and a Classical Studies minor. They are a Mexican American First-Generation college student with an interest in teaching, orange cats, Greek tragedy, and classical music. When not looking for new books to add to their “to be read” list they can be found taking walks through central park while enjoying some boba.

Zeeshan Gondal

Zeeshan is a junior at Hunter College, pursuing a major in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. He aspires to become a Software Engineer in the near future. Aside from his academic endeavors, he enjoys weight-lifting, cooking, and coding in his free time. Zeeshan is very passionate about his work and hopes to inspire others to work hard to achieve their goals.

Amallia Sularno

Amallia is a senior at Hunter College, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Asian American Studies. As she grew up, she became aware of the lack of attention given to mental health in minority communities, particularly her own community as an Asian American. This awareness has inspired her to become a psychotherapist, in hopes to create supportive spaces for these communities. In her free time she likes to try out different cafes with her friends, collect trinkets, and spend time with her cat.

Anthony Hernandez

Anthony is a transfer student and a senior at Hunter College. He is majoring in Psychology with a minor in English. Anthony is passionate about helping others. He’s hoping to pursue grad school for social work and become a counselor while also endeavoring in other areas like writing and community work. In his free time, he loves to game, collect records from his favorite artists, read books and manga, loves to explore the city and do photography for fun.

Chanwoo Lee

Chanwoo Lee is a post-bacc pre-health student majoring in Medical Lab Sciences and minoring in Spanish. Chanwoo has a degree in East Asian Studies and likes to learn about different languages and cultures. Outside of classes, he is the co-president of the Korean Student Association. Chanwoo loves his dog Areum and is a tea connoisseur. He plans on applying to medical school in the future and is interested in bridging the gap between minority communities and medicine.

Faizah Ansar

Faizah Ansar is a Senior attending Hunter College. Although she is majoring in Psychology she also enjoys exploring other interests such as learning different languages and teaching kids. Her interests are playing video games, cooking, baking (she loves sweets above everything), watching anime and spending time with family, friends, and her cat.

Irish Bicasan

Irish Bicasan is a junior at Hunter College. She is majoring in Biology and minoring in Statistics. She was born in the Philippines and moved to New York in 2017. She is on a pre-med track and hopes to become a pediatrician someday. In her free time, she likes to read books and watch crime/medical dramas and YouTube vlogs. She also loves to watch sunsets and take pictures of them.

Ray Marcus Persaud

Marcus is a senior at Hunter College with a major in Computer Science and a minor in English. They are a BMCC Graduate who binged watched the entirety of Naruto in three weeks. They enjoy writing, sketching, coding, and blasting music through their earphones. In their free time, they prowl Manhattan for alluring restaurants and takes random pictures of things that catch their eye.

Sangeeta Lall

Sangeeta is an aspiring filmmaker and game designer with a deep love of storytelling spanning from those told in an interactive space or on the big screen. She loves all things sci-fi and horror (Halloween is her favorite holiday). She is a rising senior majoring in Media with a minor in Film. You will most likely find her watching The Walking Dead or playing Valorant.

Sarah Khaldi

Sarah, a transfer student at Hunter College, is pursuing a major in Computer Science with a minor in Math. She began her academic journey at Brooklyn College, focusing on Biology and Chemistry before transitioning to her true passion in technology. Sarah finds joy in anime, Avatar: The Last Airbender, coffee, Harry Potter, and indulging in delicious tiramisu.

Wesley Yuen

Wesley is a junior at Hunter College, where he is currently majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology. He is also on the pre-med track hoping to one day become a physician. Of course, life’s not all about hitting the books. So, when he’s not cramming for exams, you’ll find him hanging out with his friends, listening to some music, nose-deep in a book, or exploring the streets of New York City.

Janny Cai

Janny is a junior attending Hunter College, she is majoring in psychology but wants to go down the pre-med track to become a psychiatrist. She recently found an interest in digital marketing and has a passion for digital drawing. She loves to write whenever she gets a chance to during her free time.

Carolyn Cao

Carolyn Cao is a Junior majoring in Human Biology. An aspiring pre-med student focused on dentistry, she is a heavy believer in healthy oral care. Although mostly enveloped in STEM courses, she also enjoys partaking in the humanity courses. In her free time, she enjoys her hobbies such as reading manga and listening to music.

Tenzin Diki

Tenzin Diki is a rising senior at Hunter College who is majoring in biology. She was born in a Tibetan refugee settlement in India and moved to the United States in 2017. With her experience as a caretaker for her dementia grandma, she is considering pursuing a career in geriatrics. She appreciates nature, and being near the water is therapeutic for her.

Umar Faruque

Umar Faruque is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science (minoring in math). Umar enjoys trying to tackle life’s problems but when there isn’t anything to be solved he enjoys spending time with his friends. Some of his hobbies include reading, cooking and planning his next coffee run!

Mahesha Haq

Mahesha is a transfer student and a rising junior at Hunter. She is currently majoring in biology, and after a fun summer course, is considering a minor in Japanese as well. She is studying to become a doctor so that she can one day help people in need and give back to her community. Raised in Florida, while the concrete jungle has its challenges, Mahesha is slowly finding her place in the city.

Mariam Siddiqui

Mariam is a Junior at Hunter College. She is majoring in Political Science, minoring in Legal studies and is also a part of Hunter’s Pre-Law Society. She is interested in going to law school and becoming an attorney. When Mariam isn’t baking she likes watching dramas whether it be k-dramas or Turkish dramas.

Ashdeep Singh

Ashdeep Singh is a Junior at Hunter. He is majoring in Computer Science and spends most of his time trying to reverse a linked list (CS Joke :’]). He has binge watched The Office 3x now and has no plans to stop anytime soon. In his free time he likes to hike in upstate NY, and explore the NYC streets. His favorite meals include Cup Noodles and Kraft Mac-and-Cheese.

Syeda Rahman

This awkward smile belongs to Syeda Rahman. Currently, a 3rd year Computer Science and Japanese minor. While she isn’t preoccupied trying to learn the newest K-Pop choreography; she spends her free time trying new food and attempting to meet new people.

Maya Wong

Maya Wong is a full-time daydreamer who probably spends too much time in fantasy worlds while not writing new ideas down. She is a senior studying Comparative Literature and International Relations, interested in communications and examining the differences and similarities between groups of people who seemingly have no connections on the surface culture wise, and finding the bridges. You will most likely find her with her nose in books, or taking photos of the sky and just about anything. She is always open to critique films and geek over plot theories.

Edison Zhu

Edison Zhu is currently double majoring in human biology and Chinese with a minor in music. He is also on the pre-PA track hoping to one day work as a PA in pediatrics or family medicine. Edison is very enthusiastic about helping other people and learning new things. Additionally, he loves listening to music–his favorite musical artist is Twice!
