Apply by 6/13: Transfer Pipeline Program: Peer Mentor

June 13, 2022

The HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program provides peer mentorship and support to transfer students during their first semester at Hunter College. While open to all, this program targets Asian American and other first-generation college students who are transferring into Hunter from other CUNY community colleges. To learn more about Hunter College AANAPISI Project (HCAP), visit: www.huntercap.org

Through the HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program, students will:
1) Reflect and share how their own identities influence their experiences in college
2) Identify and access Hunter’s network of resources
3) Feel connected to a larger support community of fellow transfer students and peer mentors to increase their sense of belonging to Hunter College

HCAP is now recruiting its next cohort of Transfer Peer Mentors (TPMs). We hope to accept 10 mentor applicants. TPMs will receive hands-on leadership coaching and skills training to become peer mentors who can assist incoming transfer students in navigating their Hunter experience and building community. Training topics include: leadership skills, public speaking, facilitation, sharing resources, community outreach, event planning and Asian American community issues.

Transfer Peer Mentors commit to participating in the program for the summer training and full academic year (Fall ‘22 – Spring ‘23).

Apply by June 13th at bit.ly/hcapmentor

Please note that the HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program is separate from Hunter’s Transfer Peer Advisor (TPA) Program, which is run by the Office of Advising at Hunter College. We recommend committing to only one of these programs at a time.
