Apply by 6/11: Transfer Pipeline Program, Peer Mentor
June 11, 2021

The HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program is a new initiative to provide peer mentorship and support services to incoming transfer students to Hunter. This initiative will target Asian American and other first-generation college students who are transferring into Hunter from other CUNY community colleges. To learn more about Hunter College AANAPISI Project (HCAP), visit: www.huntercap.org
Through the HCAP Transfer Pipeline Program, students will:
1) Reflect and share how their own identities influence their experiences in college
2) Identify and access Hunter’s network of resources
3) Feel connected to a larger support community of fellow transfer students and peer mentors to increase their sense of belonging to Hunter College
HCAP is now recruiting its first cohort of Transfer Peer Mentors (TPMs). We hope to accept 8-10 mentor applicants for our first cohort. TPMs will receive hands-on leadership coaching, skills training, and mentorship to become peer leaders who can assist incoming transfer students in navigating their Hunter experience. Training topics include: leadership skills, public speaking, facilitation, sharing resources, community outreach, event planning and Asian American community issues.
Transfer Peer Mentors commit to participating in the program for the summer training and full academic year (Fall ‘21 – Spring ‘22).
