DESCRIPTION:Asian American Students in the City: Considerations for the CUNY Classroom and Beyond (online)\nThis January 2024\, we invite BMCC and Hunter Faculty to participate in an intermediate-level online seminar series focused on Asian American students’ sense of purpose and belonging\, and racial/cultural experiences throughout college.  Here we will be centering Asian American ethnic and immigrant experiences\, Asian American mental health and wellness\, pedagogical interventions for centering purpose and classroom engagement as informed by Asian American Studies\, and other inclusive teaching practices. Participants will learn\, discuss\, reflect and apply workshop themes to teaching enhancements for their future courses. \nOpen to all former FSS participants\, as well as BMCC and Hunter part-time/adjunct and full-time instructors (from all disciplines) with previous faculty development program experience exploring themes of racial justice in the classroom. \nStipend: $500 \nSeminar Kickoff \nTuesday\, 12/12\, 1-2:30pm \nSession Dates \n\nSession 1: Friday\, 1/5\, 1-3:30pm\nSession 2: Tuesday\, 1/9\, 1-3:30pm\nSession 3: Friday\, 1/12\, 1-3:30pm\nSession 4: Tuesday\, 1/16\, 1-3:30pm\nEarly April TBD: Mid-semester Reunion and Check-In (Online)\n\nApplication Deadline: Monday\, Nov 20\, 2023 \nFor a full description of this seminar visit this program page. \nApply here \nWe will accept up to 25 participants for this seminar. All applicants should demonstrate an interest and previous experience exploring racial justice in the classroom.
