DESCRIPTION:So you’re not planning to be a doctor\, engineer or corporate lawyer?\nYOU STILL HAVE OPTIONS! \nCome hear panelists speak about their professional and personal trajectories in areas such as: nutrition\, creative arts and museums nonprofits\, philanthropy\, communications\, political engagement\, community organizing and immigrant rights. \nJoin us for a fun night of sharing insights and Q&A! \nPizza and drinks will be served. \n****\nPanelist Bios: \nSonia Ahuja: Sonia is a Registered Dietitian and graduate of Hunter College’s MS Nutrition and Dietetic Internship programs. Prior to graduate school\, she studied Business Management at American University in Washington\, DC. A self-proclaimed ‘late bloomer’\, she hopes that by sharing about her professional and personal experiences\, she can help other South Asian-Americans like herself. \nMichele Baer: A native of the San Francisco Bay Area\, Michele has worked as a dancer\, arts administrator\, researcher\, communications professional\, and advocate for the arts and social justice. As The New York Community Trust’s Program Associate for Thriving Communities\, she conducts grantmaking and convening activities within and across the Arts and Culture\, Civic Affairs\, Community Development\, Environment\, and Historic Preservation portfolios. Her previous roles include work at Dance/NYC\, Columbia University\, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council\, and the Global Fund for Women. \nRafael Flores: Passionate about arts and culture\, Rafael has worked for museums and other arts nonprofits for the majority of his career. He is currently the Associate Director of Corporate Relations at Park Avenue Armory and has previously held fundraising roles at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum\, the Museum of Arts and Design\, and Apicha Community Health Center. \nJulie Ae Kim: Julie is a NYC-based community organizer and writer. She is passionate about immigrant rights\, Asian American feminism\, and political engagement. Currently she is a Program Manager at the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and is on the board of the National Asian Pacific Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) NYC Chapter. She is working on her MA in Women’s and Gender Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center.
