DESCRIPTION:⭐ This program is open to ALL Hunter and BMCC students\, regardless of identity or background. ⭐\n\nFREE winter seminar: Online Interviewing: Asian American Identities in the Workplace \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION  \nOnline interviewing is an increasingly common practice for jobs\, internships\, and admissions to graduate/professional programs. In this online series\, students will explore stereotypes about Asian Americans in the workplace\, learn and practice strategies for online interviewing\, and receive feedback from mock interviews. During the workshops\, students will have opportunities to hear from Asian American professionals on how they found fulfilling careers while navigating their identities in the workplace. \nCOURSE FORMAT  \nThere are 5 online workshops and 1 mock interview at the end of the seminar. You must actively and fully participate in ALL workshops and the mock interview. DESCRIPTION:⭐ Open to ALL current Hunter College and BMCC undergraduate students\, regardless of identity and background. ⭐ \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION \nHave you always wanted to write about your life but didn’t know where to begin? Would you benefit from a creative writing class that would help improve your overall reading\, speaking\, writing\, and listening skills in university courses? Are you interested in reading more work by Asian American and Asian Diasporic Writers? \nJoin writer Bushra Rehman for a series of creative writing workshops in which we will explore our relationship to this vibrant\, resilient metropolis we may call home. Together\, we will generate new writing\, practice techniques for revision\, overcome writing blocks\, and celebrate our creativity. \nEach workshop will include a series of short readings and generative writing prompts from Asian American and Asian Diasporic writers as well as time to share our writing. \nSEMINAR FORMAT\nWriting Workshops:  Tuesday and Thursday (1/7\, 1/9\, 1/14\, 1/16)\, from 11am to 1pm. \nCelebratory Reading Event: Thursday\, 1/30\, from 7pm to 8:30pm\nStudents must attend ALL sessions and the celebratory reading event to participate.\n\n\nAPPLY HERE BY: Friday\, 12/20 @ 5pm\n \n\nThis free\, non-credit\, virtual (Zoom) workshop series is limited to 30 students. Applicants will receive an email confirmation of their spot in the workshop starting on 12/22. We will also keep a waitlist and notify students if there are any openings.\nAbout the instructor: Bushra Rehman’s first book of stories Corona\, a poetic on-the-road adventure about being South-Asian in the United States\, was chosen by the NY Public Library as one of its favorite books about NYC. She’s co-editor of Colonize This! Young Women of Color on Today’s Feminism and author of the collection of poetry Marianna’s Beauty Salon\, described by Joseph O.
